An In-depth Look at the Japanese Trailer (Part II)

Alrighty, let’s continue with the Japanese trailer analysis!

Screen Shot 2015-06-23 at 10.59.43 AMDecorative items! These look great and it’ll be fun to incorporate them in your design. Looks like we’ve got plants, sporting equipment, food, musical items, and some other ones as well.

Screen Shot 2015-06-23 at 11.03.38 AMIf the musical stylings of KK isn’t fitting your design, why not try general sound effects? At 4:05, different options are shown. Looks we’ve got rain, construction sounds, what looks like a sports stadium (so cheering?), and many others. I would assume the music notes on the far left indicate how loud the sounds are?

Screen Shot 2015-06-23 at 11.09.48 AMAt the beginning of the trailer, we saw a plaza that appeared fully finished but at 4:17, it looks like what players can expect to see at the beginning of their game, which is most of these places boarded up. The narrator state that when the player has “enough experience” designing, Isabelle will ask you to take on larger projects. Is this is based on the number of villagers you help out, or just how many times you decorate a room? It would sort of suck if big renovations like the hospital or hotel were locked simply because a player didn’t buy a lot of Amiibo cards to unlock villagers.

At 5:26, we’ve got what appears to be space where you can construct buildings (the above shows the before and after). Again, I wonder how this will be unlocked. The main plaza looks sizeable though. I counted around nine different buildings as the player was walking around.

The villagers you scan into your 3DS will appear in the plaza/buildings as well. I wonder what level of interaction will happen between the player character and the other villagers. The trailer notes that a nicely decorated room will make them happy, so does this mean they’ll provide clues as to what will make the design better?

And that wraps up my trailer analysis. Sigh, I love 9-minute trailers, ahaha. Now I’m even more excited about the game! As always, be sure to give me a follow on Twitter, @ACHappyHomes, for all the latest updates.

Bye for now, villagers!
